NIE Granada, piece by piece

The form that fits your case, the 790-012 fee, a cita previa for the province and a clear word on the two extranjería addresses, San Agapito and La Palmita: set in order before you go, for students, language assistants, remote workers and those who come to stay.

Por qué el número

One number, asked for at every door

Granada gathers people for reasons that rarely overlap. A doctoral candidate comes for a laboratory at the University, a language assistant for a school year in Zaidín or Maracena, a designer who answers clients abroad from a flat in the Realejo, a retired couple who chose the Albaicín for its light and the Sierra Nevada for its winters. Within a few weeks each of them meets the same question, at a bank, at a landlord’s desk or at a faculty office: what is your NIE?

The number is issued by the Policía Nacional, in a single appointment. How smoothly that goes is decided before it: the form that suits your situation, the fee paid under the right code, a cita previa found for the province, and the address your confirmation gives, since the city has two extranjería desks. We put those pieces in their places with you, so that the morning itself is short.

Trámites

The procedures, in three courts

Each trámite has its page: what it is, who it concerns, the documents, and what changes in Granada. Pick the court that matches your passport, or the city’s own offices.

Régimen comunitario

The number and the Union

The NIE itself, the appointment, and the papers of Europeans and their families.

  • Número de Identidad de Extranjero

    The NIE and the EX-15

What the Número de Identidad de Extranjero is, who is asked for it in Granada, and how the EX-15 requests it when the number is all you need.

  • Cita previa

    The cita previa

How the appointment system works for the province of Granada, which procedure to choose, and what the confirmation tells you.

  • Certificado de registro UE

    EU registration certificate

The green certificate of Europeans (EU, EEA, Swiss) whose stay in Granada goes past three months, requested with the EX-18.

  • Tarjeta de residencia de familiar comunitario

    Relatives of a European

When a European moves to Granada with a husband, wife or relative from outside the Union, that relative applies on the EX-19 for a card of their own.

Régimen general

From beyond the Union

The TIE and the residences of students, assistants, remote workers and retirees.

  • Toma de huellas · Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero

    TIE fingerprints

Landed in Granada with a long visa or a favourable resolution? Fingerprints come next, then the card itself: EX-17, fee, collection.

  • Estancia por estudios

    Students at the University

From the student visa to the TIE, and the EU route for Erasmus: what international students at the Universidad de Granada arrange after arriving.

  • Auxiliares de conversación

    For language assistants

Auxiliares de conversación placed in Granada and its province: the visa, the TIE fingerprints or the EU certificate, the padrón of the town you live in.

  • Residencia para teletrabajo de carácter internacional

    Remote workers

The residence for international teleworkers, for non-EU professionals who work from Granada for companies or clients abroad.

  • Residencia no lucrativa

    Retiring to Granada

The non-lucrative residence for retirees and others who live on their own means in Granada, from the consulate to the TIE.

  • Acuerdo de Retirada

    British citizens since Brexit

Withdrawal Agreement residents, newcomers who now need a visa, and the 90-day limit for British owners who visit Granada.

  • Autorización de regreso

Travel while a card is pending

Flying home for the holidays while your TIE is being renewed or made? The autorización de regreso that lets you back into Spain.

Cómo se prepara

Three bays, one file

  1. Uno

    We read your situation

Three facts start it: the passport you hold, what brings you to Granada, and your dates. From them we name your procedure, its form and its documents, in that order.

  2. Dos

    We prepare the papers

The form filled in, the 790-012 fee ready to pay, translations and copies identified. Nothing is left for the morning of the appointment.

  3. Tres

    We look for the appointment

We watch the cita previa for the province, book the slot with you, and brief you on the office your confirmation names and on what its desk will ask.

En Granada

Where the NIE is done in Granada

Two official pages give two addresses for the NIE in Granada. The Delegación del Gobierno puts it at the police unit inside the Oficina de Extranjería, Calle San Agapito 2, on the corner of Ribera del Beiro; the directory of the Policía Nacional files it under the Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras, whose street is Calle La Palmita. The University of Granada’s guide for incoming students books its appointments at San Agapito 2. Your cita previa confirmation names the office, and our page on the two addresses sets out what each source says. On the coast and in the altiplano, the Comisaría de Motril and the Comisaría de Baza also list NIE procedures.

Two official pages, two addresses. For the Delegación del Gobierno, numbers, European registrations and cards are a matter for the police unit of San Agapito 2; for the police directory, for the Brigada on Calle La Palmita. The University of Granada sends its students to San Agapito 2. No date on either page settles it, so let the confirmation decide: whichever office it prints is expecting you.

The police unit sits inside the Subdelegación del Gobierno’s Oficina de Extranjería, which also decides residence and work authorisations and the EU family member card. Email for documentation: documentacionextranjeria.granada@correo.gob.es.

The Delegación del Gobierno page lists a narrower set at this address: statelessness, stay extensions, cédulas, travel documents, invitation letters, and asylum and refuge.

Neither official page gives public transport directions to these offices, and we print none we cannot source. Plan your route the day before.

The padrón of the city

Nine Oficinas de Información y Registro take the padrón by appointment, reserved through citaprevia.granada.org; the sede electrónica accepts it online with a digital certificate. A rental contract with a recent utility bill, or a bill in your own name, proves the address.

Cómo trabajamos

Four rules we keep

Who sets your file in order
  1. Your procedure, correctly named

Most refusals begin with the wrong form. We start by naming your procedure, in Spanish and in English, before anything is filled in.

  2. The two addresses, explained

We tell you what each official source says about San Agapito and La Palmita, and we read your confirmation with you.

  3. Made for your case

A student, an assistant, a remote worker and a retiree do not share a file. Your checklist is written for yours.

  4. Plain about what we are

A private, independent service. The administration decides; we prepare, and we say so on every page.

Preguntas frecuentes

What Granada asks first

The searches that bring people here, answered briefly. The full answers live on the pages for Europeans and for everyone else.

Cita previa NIE Granada: how do I book it?

Online, on the cita previa page of the administration’s sede electrónica (sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es). Select Granada as the province, then the police procedure for your case, enter the passport details and take a slot. The confirmation names the office and the time.

Extranjería Granada: San Agapito or La Palmita?

Both appear in official sources. The Delegación del Gobierno lists the NIE at the police unit of the Oficina de Extranjería, Calle San Agapito 2; the police directory lists it at the Brigada on Calle La Palmita. Your appointment confirmation tells you which one expects you.

Huellas TIE Granada: when are the fingerprints taken?

Soon after you arrive with a long-stay visa or a granted authorisation: padrón first, then the 790-012 fee, then the fingerprint slot, with form EX-17 in hand. The card is collected later, with the receipt.

Certificado de registro UE in Granada: where is it issued?

At the police desk your cita previa confirmation names. A European staying beyond three months files the EX-18 there; the University of Granada’s guide books it at San Agapito 2.

Empadronamiento in Granada: where is it done?

At one of the Ayuntamiento’s Oficinas de Información y Registro, on a date taken through citaprevia.granada.org, or from home with a digital certificate.

Can I do the NIE in Motril or Baza?

Possibly: both comisarías carry NIE certificates and TIE issue in the police directory. If the cita previa system offers them for your procedure, they can save a trip into the city.

Further along

When the move is larger than the number

Two independent services take over where our trámites end: the wider move to Spain, and a NIE requested from a distance.
